Pre & Post Spray Tan Instructions
Before Your Spray Tan: How to Prepare for Flawless Results
1. Exfoliate 24 Hours Before
Dead skin cells can cause uneven absorption, leading to patchy areas. The day before your tan:
Use a gentle exfoliating mitt or body scrub to remove dry skin.
Focus on rough areas like elbows, knees, ankles, and hands.
Avoid oil-based scrubs—they leave a residue that can interfere with the tan.
2. Shave or Wax in Advance
Shave at least 12 hours before your session to allow pores to close.
Wax 24-48 hours before to avoid irritation and uneven color.
Shaving after a spray tan can cause it to fade faster, so prep beforehand.
3. Avoid Lotions, Deodorants, and Perfumes
These products create a barrier on the skin, leading to uneven absorption.
Skip moisturizers, deodorants, makeup, and perfumes on the day of your session.
If your skin feels dry, use a light, oil-free moisturizer the night before.
Avoid using retinols or AHA products before/after your tan because these increase cell turnover and will fade your tan quicker.
4. Wear Loose, Dark Clothing
Tight clothing (like leggings or skinny jeans) can smudge your tan before it sets.
Opt for loose-fitting, breathable fabrics like cotton.
Dark colors help avoid visible stains from the bronzer.

After Your Spray Tan: How to Maximize the Life of Your Tan
Stay Dry
The longer you can wait to rinse off, the better your spray tan will develop. We recommend waiting 8-12 hrs (2-4 hrs if using the rapid development solution) before showering or getting wet for the best color. **Sweating can also cause streaking** in your initial bronze, so avoid the gym and other strenuous activity until after your first shower.
2. First Rinse - Use only water
For your first rinse, rinse with lukewarm water only. Do not use soap. Do not moisturize or use lotion until at least 24 hours after your spray tan. Your tan, whether you received a rapid spray or standard, takes 24 hours to fully develop.
3. Moisturize & Stay Hydrated
The ingredient that causes your skin to appear darker, DHA, can make your skin drier than usual. Moisturizing and staying hydrated can really help prolong the life of your tan.
Other things to note:
Moisturize Morning And Night The more hydrated your skin is, the longer your tan will last them. Your moisturizer should be free of mineral oil and artificial fragrance.
Understand that if you are using any acne/retinol products, your face may become blotchy.
You may use a tan extending lotion that contains DHA after day three of their tan.
Avoid Swimming, Long Hot Showers/Baths, Saunas, And Excessive Sweating. Your tan will not last very long if you plan to do any of these activities.
No Exfoliating Until Tan Is At The End Of Its Life. Do not use any loofahs or wash rags during their showers. It is best to wash with hands only in areas where needed (Pits + Privates) to ensure a long-lasting tan.
